How many of us choose to say that on a regular basis, week after week…

I had a wonderful weekend with a child I borrowed from my girlfriend.  I’d been promising her for a very long time that we’d spend a weekend riding horses.

This past weekend we did just that.  Sterling arrived Thursday night with her mother, one of my closest friends, and we had a wonderful supper and visit.  After settling Sterling into her room, we talked about plans for the weekend and introduced her to our various animals around the ranch before bedtime.

Friday we had our first lesson in horsemanship and balance aboard Big Buck the Wonderhorse, a 29 year old gelding that is worth his weight in gold for the time he has been so reliable taking care of future cowgirls.  We went for two long rides on Friday, another on Sat. and even another Sunday morning.   Between all the riding, we helped a neighbour wash her horses and band manes for the show on Sunday at the fall fair and spent time at the fair ourselves.  It was an eventful weekend.  I dropped off a very tired girl on Sunday.

I woke up this morning thinking TGIM.  I am at home.  I can see the horses out the window.  I am thinking about what we’ll do the next time Sterling comes to the ranch if she wants to continue her equine experiences and my business has pretty much been on reliable auto-pilot the whole time.

I also received a phone call yesterday from my brother to tell me that I have another nephew.  Congrats. to Dana and Shan!  Welcome to Alex!

I do not have to worry about booking time off to go and see them.  As soon as Shan. is back home,  I’ll be packing up my laptop and phone and I’m gone to see what help I can give her and to meet little Alex.  My business will come with me and easily be managed from where I choose to be whether it’s Monday, Friday or any day in between.
